Jeffery Dahmer was known to be a very insecure person, with a move from Wisconsin to Ohio at eight years of age, and a parents' divorce when he was 17. As a result, Jeffery began to show signs of a person with antisocial personality disorder. The causes of antisocial personality disorder are unknown, but it is believed that genetics and other aspects of a persons life will contribute to one developing antisocial personality disorder. One thing that Jeffery did that could be linked to him developing antisocial personality disorder was taking animals and beating their dead carcasses. Additionally, the lack of self confidence that he had could also be an aspect of the development of this disorder. People who have antisocial personality disorder tend to not have any regard for right and wrong, and their ways of thinking, perceiving situations, and dealing with people are destructive and abnormal. Antisocial personality disorder is also sometimes know as sociopathic personality disorder. Dahmer's alcoholism throughout his life most likely compounded this personality disorder and made his perception of right and wrong to become skewed.
